Republicans Differ on Global Warming
Even after considering the votes from the citizens in Florida, Republicans remained troubled about the issue of global warming and continued to ponder over what to do about it. According to weather reports, Florida has a predicted risk of rising sea water level and more persistent storms to come. With this news at hand, the two government parties have urged people to take intense action to stop it from getting worse.
With 1,200 miles of coastline, Florida is known as a bait for devastating storms and unique sea coral. All these will be affected by global warming that the scientists foresee. Certain government officials have voiced their aggression over the issue, and some have actually taken action in supporting programs of capping greenhouse gases that are blamed for the Earth’s warming.
According to Ken Mehlman, Republicans cannot afford not to pay attention to the critical climate change. After losing independents in the 2006 election, Ken Mehlman mentioned that tackling the issue of global warming and coming up with distinct solutions is the key for these independents to come back to the Grand Old Party (GOP).
As Ken Mehlman stated in their board meeting discussing climate change and politics, there is a new sense of volunteerism among the population, a “left-right coalition” that comprises environmentalists, religious leaders, sportsmen, military leaders, and possibly celebrities, who could have once been unconcerned about what is happening to our climate. Now, they are insistent on promoting awareness and action to decrease the consequences of greenhouse gases.
