Mobile Broadband Soon to Become an Integral Part of Business Operations
With over a 30% of corporate bosses worldwide using HSPA mobile broadband as the primary tool for internet access, GSMA is confident in stating that mobile broadband is soon to permeate in the lower level of the management as well. Over the next few years it will become the most favoured form of connectivity, says the organisation that represents mobile communications industry across different nations.
The study, which spanned 1000 companies across different countries, revealed that budget allocation for remote access tools like mobile broadband, Wi-Fi etc were set to be nearly doubled for the coming year, as top managements realise the potential for greater productivity which mobile broadband offers.
Nearly a quarter of the corporate houses participating in the study agreed with GSMA’s claim that mobile broadband will become the most popular service over the next few years, as more and more employees are being equipped with contract laptops and net books to enable uninterrupted working. Considering that networking and connectivity are nearly indispensable now, it is just a matter of time before lower-level employees too are also equipped with fast and reliable broadband connection, which can perform at optimum levels irrespective of location or time. Chief of GSMA, Michael O’Hara, observed that corporate organizations are fast realising the advantages of HSPA mobile broadband as compared to fixed lines.
The existing trend of only higher echelons within companies using mobile broadband will see a radical change, as top-level management gurus have begun to realise that a more equitable distribution of technological benefits within the company can increase overall productivity. Therefore, technological needs of lower level employees are being considered, so that they can continue to work uninterrupted while travelling.
